A memorial service for R. Glenn Bauer will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 1 pm in St. Paul Episcopal Church, Westfield.
Mr. Bauer, 83 passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital in New York. He was born in Bellevue, PA and has resided in Westfield for 52 years. Mr. Bauer was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy.
Mr. Bauer graduated from Yale University where he obtained a degree in Engineering. He then graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in both Architecture and Law. He was a musician with the Yale band , and the Michigan Marching Band.
He became a partner with Haight, Gardner, Poor and Havens in New York City as an Admiralty Lawyer. He was affiliated with them for 50 years, retiring in 2000.
Mr. Bauer was an adjunct professor of Maritime Law at both Hofstra and Cordozo University.
He was very active at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Westfield. He was also a member of Tau Beta Pi at Yale, the Circum Navigators, American Bar Association (ABA), Maritime Law Association, Maritime Arbitrators, Echo Lake Country Club and also the Raritan Yacht Club where he loved sailing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary C.L. Bauer, his children; Carla Rentrop and her husband Dr.K.Peter Rentrop, Jeffry L. and Ralph Glenn Bauer, Jr. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Glenn W., Carl P. and Emily Rentrop.
