A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11 am in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Westfield for Ray A. Elmendorf. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home, Westfield.
Mr. Elmendorf, 83 passed away at his residence in Fanwood. Ray was born in Kingston, New York and has resided in Elizabeth and Scotch Plains before moving to Fanwood in 1960.
He served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Elmendorf received a degree in mechanical engineering from MIT. He was an engineering associate with Exxon Chemical Company in Linden for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Exxon retiree's club and also an usher and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for over 50 years. Ray enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamala (Goodwill) Elmendorf and his children; Thomas D., Sheryl Laliberte and Rayna Elmendorf. He will also be deeply missed by his six grandchildren.
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the music program at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
