Raymond G. Strobl, 86, passed away January 18, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois May 14, 1925 and grew up in Maywood, Illinois. He served in the US Army for two years in France during World War II. He returned and married Wynifred Erresberger of Maywood, Illinois. He was graduated from Princeton University in 1949. He served as a US Army Lieutenant in 1950 in Korea during the Korean War. Upon his return he embarked upon a career in the fragrance industry. He worked for Albert Verley & Co., Linden, NJ. He was President of Charabot & Cie for thirty years, a New York City importer of fragrance raw materials from Grasse, France. He was a member of Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ for thirty years. Private graveside services were held at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wynifred Strobl, his son Reed G. Strobl of Laguna Niguel, CA, a daughter Jeannine Seibert of Roanoke, Virginia, and three grandchildren, Christopher Seibert of New York City, Peter Seibert of Santa Monica, California, and Emily Seibert of Roanoke, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon E. Strobl, of Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
