Renfra Knickerbocker

Private funeral services will be held for Renfra Knickerbocker, 82 who passed away on June 22, 2008 at Cranford Health and Extended Care in Cranford. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford.
Mrs. Knickerbocker was born in Manhattan and lived in Cranford for the last 50 years. She retired from Kean University where she was a secretary. She was a member of the Cranford Historical Society and the Cranford Democratic Club where she was instrumental in the election of the first female mayor, Barbara Brand.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Denton Stewart Layman.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Gilbert Gamsu. Her children, Cynthia Layman Philipone, Lisa Gamsu and Evan Gamsu. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Diane and her great grandchildren, Connor and Deegan.
