Obituary For publication in: The Star Ledger The Asbury Park Press Richard Le Duc, 82, went home to the Lord on July 14, 2011. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Cranford United Methodist Church, 201 Lincoln Avenue, East, Cranford, NJ on Saturday morning, July 23, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford. A longtime resident of Clark, Rich resided in Lakewood for six years before moving to Ocean Grove. He worked for the former Schering pharmaceutical company for 41 years as a chemical operator, print shop technician, and shipping supervisor. He was a member of Cranford United Methodist Church and an Associate Member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Toms River. For nearly thirty years, he and his wife Ruth were an active part of the Christian tent cottage community at Ocean Grove. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan following WWII. Through the years, he served as Scoutmaster of Troop 75 in Cranford, as Co-Founder and President of the A.L. Johnson High School Band Boosters Club, on several committees at Cranford United Methodist Church, and was on the leadership team of Marriage Enrichment of New Jersey. In Ocean Grove, he served as a member of the Auditorium Ushers for 31 years and assisted the Ladies Auxiliary with numerous events. Richard was preceded to heaven by his beloved wife Ruth and is survived by his adoring family: his five children Judith Turner and her husband Michael of Cranford, Nancy Turner and her husband Jack of Colonia, David Le Duc and his wife Karen of Nutley, Thomas Le Duc and his wife Wendy of East Stroudsburg, PA, and Patricia Gerichten and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, PA; 13 grandchildren: Debra Turner, Jamie Ross and her husband Michael, Rebecca Suriyalangka and her husband Chaloemphon, Donna Lahens and her husband Serge, Elizabeth Langan and her husband Mark, Brian Turner, Scott Le Duc, William Le Duc, Zachary Le Duc, Erica Gerichten, Douglas Gerichten, Wyatt Le Duc, and Ayday Gerichten; two great-grandchildren Haley and Brody Ross; his brother Robert Le Duc and his wife Lou; three sisters-in-law: Emily Driver, Alice Allen, and May Houtenville; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rich's memory would be welcomed to the Cranford United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 201 Lincoln Avenue East, Cranford, NJ 07016 or the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association for the "Thornley Chapel Building," 54 Pitman Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756. As Jesus said, "I came that my joy might be in you and that your joy might be full," Rich LeDuc lived that way fully and faithfully.
