Richard A. Kiamie

June 8, 1932 — April 11, 2007

Richard A. Kiamie, 74, son of the late Aziz and Sadie Kiamie of Cranford, NJ died on April 11, 2007 at the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison, NJ after a brief illness.
Richard was born in Cranford NJ and resided there. Fifteen years ago, he started wintering in Florida. Several years later, he moved to Florida permanently.
He served in the US Navy for two years on the USS Dortch, DD670, a navy destroyer.
Richard was an avid boating enthusiast throughout his adult life. He was a member of the Long Branch Ice Boat and Yacht Club serving for a time as dock master and participating in many activities of the club.
He was a licensed electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local 456 New Brunswick and formerly of Local 358 Perth Amboy. He worked abroad on projects for defense contractors engaged by the Navy and for two oil companies, frequently as project manager. His work took him to Scotland, Morocco, Spain, Libya and Saudi Arabia. He also traveled to Italy, Syria and Lebanon.
Richard's greatest concern was for his family, with each of whom he shared a great love. Though he was pre-deceased by his brother Charles, Richard is survived by Helen, wife of Charles, his sister Gladys Koester of Clark, brother Wiliam and wife Violet of Scotch Plains, brother Arthur and wife Yvonne of Cranford, brother Robert and wife Mary of Wayne. He leaves twelve adored nieces and nephews and their spouses, fifteen grand nieces and nephews and spouses and one great grand nephew. Richard was loved by his entire family, most of which were with him at the time of his passing.
In his lifetime Richard had many friends. A soft spoken and kind man who had a great diversity of interests, he enjoyed his friendships immensely.
There will be held on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 7 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church on the corner of North and Forest Avenues in Cranford.
