Bob Lombardo, 66, of Lawrenceville and Cranford, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 25, 2017 after a short but valiant fight against cancer.
Born in Lawrenceville, NJ, Bob graduated from Lawrence High School and continued on to Chamberlain Junior College before receiving bachelor's and master's degrees from Wagner College.
Bob married Kathy Johnson on October 10th, 1977. They were partners for over 40 years and had three daughters, Allison, Kristen and Rachel. He is also survived by his sister, Jo Ann, wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law, his daughters' partners, Scott and Kevin, nieces and nephews and some great friends, all of whom loved him so much.
For 35 years, Bob wore various hats for the NYC Department of Education, predominantly in staffing and special investigations. He was a Yankee fan, an avid movie-watcher, a yard work aficionado, a political junkie and a big music lover. He had a great sense of humor. Bob could be relied on to lend a helping hand, be an open-minded listener or to provide an irreverent comment. He could always be found documenting family events via camera or camcorder, preserving fond memories that we will cherish for years to come.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 pm on Saturday, April 29th at Gray's Memorial Funeral Home in Cranford, NJ. A memorial service will take place at 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 30th at The First Congregational Church in Westfield, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Planned Parenthood (https://tinyurl.com/mm6r6by). Donations to St Jude's Children's Hospital are also appreciated (https://tinyurl.com/zcvwqc2).
