Robert David Millar, 92, a 63 year resident of Cranford, died Thursday October 21, 2010 at his residence. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday October 24, 2010, at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, where the funeral service will begin at 10 AM Monday October 25, 2010. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Elizabeth. Mr. Millar was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marjorie Jean (Bettison) Millar. He is survived by his son: John Bettison Millar of Cranford, granddaughter: Erin Millar Ridge and her husband Michael of Scotch Plains, grandson: Robert Alan Millar of Lewes, DE, four great grandchildren: Caitlin, Michael, Matthew, and Jon. Born in Elizabeth, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cranford. Robert served in the US Army, 11th Armored Division "Thunderbolt," during WW II under General George S. Patton's European Campaigns. He served until 1951, attaining the rank of Major. He was employed as the manager of the Terminal Building with PSE&G, Newark, retiring in 1984. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
