Robert Ruff

Dr. Robert W. Ruff Age 89 of Mountainside, NJ. Died on February 21, 2010 He and his brother Dr. James Ruff had an optometry practice in Elizabeth(NJ), for over forty years. Born in Newark(NJ), he graduated from Roselle Park High School. He received his Bachelors degree from Monmouth College, Illinois and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Columbia University, New York. He was a Lieutenant in the US Navy during World War II, serving aboard a destroyer in the Atlantic Fleet. Dr. Ruff moved to Mountainside (NJ) in 1956, and was a charter member and Past President of the Mountainside Lions Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Schultis Ruff in 1986 and also his grandson, Brian Jr. in 2008. Surviving are his brother James and wife Margaret, his sons, Robert Ruff, Jr. and wife Robbi, of Springfield, Mass, William Ruff and wife Cynthia of Charleston SC, and Brian Ruff, Sr. and wife Jody also of Charleston SC. Surviving grandchildren are Susanne, Stephen, Alex, Kelly, Christy, Bobby and great-grandson, Benjamin. A private memorial service was held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountainside Presbyterian Church at Deer Path & Meeting House Lane, Mountainside, NJ. 07092.
