Former Mountainside Councilman, Fire Chief, and Director of Public Works
Robert E. Wyckoff, 80, of Mountainside, NJ, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday May 5, 2018. Robert's visitation will be Tuesday May 8th, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10AM Wednesday May 9, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Mountainside. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Bob was a former councilman for the Borough of Mountainside from 1983-1993, and a former Fire Chief and lifetime member of the Mountainside Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served since 1967. Bob was the Director of the Public Works Department for Mountainside, retiring in 2000. He also worked as a sales consultant for 22 years with the Reliance Equipment Company, Newark, NJ.
Born in Springfield, NJ, to the late John W. and Frances Ruban Wyckoff, Robert was a graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School, and served in the US Army. He loved gardening, and visiting Drayton Island, Florida. Bob enjoyed traveling in the RV with his family. They visited many places throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. Bob is survived by his wife: Joyce Ann (nee McCray) Wyckoff, three daughters: Amanda Parker and her husband Jeffrey, Wendy A. Wulstein, Katherine F. Wyckoff, six grandchildren: Michael Wulstein, and Jessica, Kayla, Jared, Marilena, and Mia Parker, and a brother: John W. Wyckoff and his wife Esther.
