Ruth Barbara Schweizer

Ruth B. Sturm Schweizer: (Age 97) Died on October 22, 2010 in Silver Spring Maryland. Resident of Cranford for the past 70 years. Born in Peoria IL and later resided in Brooklyn NY, and Union NJ. She graduated from James Madison HS in Brooklyn and worked as secretary in NYC for Sturm Dahlberg Co. Married 45 years to the late Walter K. Schweizer, is survived by son Robert K. Schweizer and wife, Iris, of Orange Park FL; daughter Elaine S. Miller and husband, Arthur, from Colesville MD; grandson Kurtis K. Schweizer of Miami Lakes FL; granddaughter Melanie Miller Kmetz and husband, Charles, of Mokena IL; niece Nancy Brooks Hunt of Alexandria VA; nieces Dottie Smith and Marjorie Melby of El Paso TX; nephew Ralph Scoppa of Studio City CA; niece Joanne Schulze of Toms River NJ; 7 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild. Her sister Lois Sturm Brooks and niece Karen Brooks Page, former Cranford residents, predeceased her. She was a member of Cranford United Methodist Church and Azure Chapter, OES. She was recently honored with an Eastern Star 75-year-membership award. Services will be held at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave, Cranford NJ, 11 am on Wednesday October 27, 2010, with visitation from 10 am until time of service. An Eastern Star service will be 10:45 am during the visitation hour. Interment and graveside service will be immediately following at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Eastern Star Home, Cranford United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.
