Theocharis A. "Haris" Philippou, 51, of Bridgewater, NJ, died suddenly on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation from 4:00 to 9:00 PM Saturday June 18, 2011 at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield (www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences). The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM Monday June 20, 2011, in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Gallows Hill Road, Westfield, with interment to follow in Fairview Cemtery, Westfield. Born in Cyprus to Andreas and Petrou Philippou, Haris came to America to get away from the political strife there, and to receive an education. He brought his two brothers along with him so they could attend college here as well. Mr. Philippou was the owner and operator of Fournos Distributors, which distributed fresh bread and other products throughout the state. He and his brother-in-law Gregory Kyritsis also co-owned, Gregory T's Restaurant in Emerson, Bergen County, NJ. Haris was the beloved husband of his wife, Helen Kyritsis, devoted father of son: Andrew Philippou, and daughter: Christina Philippou, dear brother of: Maria Panagi, and husband George, Irini Nicolaou and husband Nikos, Philip Philippou and wife Melpina, Kosta Philippou and wife Georgia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Because education was extremely important to Haris, a non profit fund "The Haris A. Philippou Scholarship Fund" has been set-up, for his children, but will serve as a legacy for others in the future.
