Mr. Theodore Carl Rutmayer age 88 entered eternal rest on Saturday March 12, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born in Staten Island, New York, he moved to Cranford in 1953. Involved in community support events as well as serving as President of the Cranford Booster Club, in the early 70's. He served his country in the United States Army during World War Two, and the Korean Conflict. Graduated the University of Kentucky with an electrical engineering degree. And masters from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). He started his career as an electrical engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Responsible for many projects, concluding his service as Superintendent of PATH railroad, keeping service, operations, and maintenance running smoothly during renovation of stations and construction of the World Trade Center. His retirement was in 1984 after 37 years of service. His most resent position was as Honorary Mayor of Birchwood Square. He is pre deceased by Wanda, his loving wife of 60 years who passed away in 2009 . His children, Thomas Rutmayer, Gail Wedemeyer, Joyce Van Brunt, and Sue Roberts survive him. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Private arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford.
