Thomas Gest Stevens, of Westfield, son of Edward Stevens and Alice Gest Stevens, died Friday , May 21, 2010, at home. Mr. Stevens was predeceased in December 2009, by his wife of 68 years, Jeanne Hill Stevens. Tom's family will be receiving friends at Gray's Funeral Home, 318. East Broad Street, Westfield, New Jersey, Monday, May 24, from 7-9. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. Mr. Stevens was born in Roselle, where he lived for many years. He moved to Westfield in 1956. He graduate Rutgers College in 1937, and earned his Master's Degree in History in 1954. During World War II, Mr. Stevens served in the Army Air Force Medical Detachment. He taught United State history for 37 years in Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, New Jersey. He was an adjunct history professor at Union County College. Mr. Stevens is survived by, his daughters, Carol Koehler (Charles), Janet Behrens, four grandchildren: Jennifer Kirchherr (Jonathan), Thomas Koehler, Jessica Behrens, Katherine Behrens and one great-grandchild, his brother-in-law, Frank Hill (Clare) of Largo, Florida, a sister-in-law Wilma Stevens of Edison and numerous nieces and nephews.
