Vaughn Stephen Shaw

Vaughn Stephen Shaw, age 79, passed away Thursday November 11, 2021. "Steve" was born in Bound Brook, NJ. He was raised by his parents Sylvanus J Shaw and Fern L Shaw and resided in Cranford for over 70 years. He was a graduate of CHS and received his BA from West Georgia College. Steve also served in the Air Force from 1961-1964. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller at the Newark Airport for several years and remained in the Federal Aviation Administration until he retired in 2007.

Steve was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford and dedicated his service as a deacon, volunteer, and choir member. He was an avid sports fan and passed down his love of baseball and the Yankees to his two sons. Aside from sports, Steve enjoyed playing the piano, vacationing down the shore in LBI, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Steve is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Karen Shaw. He is survived by his sons Christopher and wife Meghan Shaw, and Keith and wife Lesley Shaw, and his grandchildren Finley, Evan, Liam, and David. Steve is also survived by his siblings Merna Comstock, June Gregory, Donna Shaw, Adele Lee, and Sylvanus Shaw.

A life celebration will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield
Avenue in Cranford. A funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday November 17, 2021 at the First
Presbyterian Church of Cranford. Interment will follow, with his wife Karen at Fairview Cemetery in
Westfield.
