Walter J. Shordiche

Walter J. Shordiche, 64 of Edison, died Monday August 29, 2011 in his residence, after a lenghy illness. Born in Newark, Walter grew up in Elizabeth, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1964. He later lived in Scotch Plains, before moving to Edison. He attended Union County College, and the Metropolitan Technical Institute, Passaic, graduating in 1967. Mr. Shordiche was retired from Lockheed International's Electronics Division, Watchung, after 20 years service. A veteran of the US Army, Walter served his country in Viet Nam from 1968 to 1970. Walter was the son of the late Walter T. and Gladys Jordan Shordiche. He is survived by an uncle, Clifton Shordiche (Gloria) of San Mateo, CA, cousins: Joyce Darbie of Colorado, Thomas Elke of CA, Jane Walter of Warren, NJ, Anne Shordiche of KY, Janice Schultz of CA, John Shordiche of CA, Fred Fretz of Union, NJ, Robert Winter of Doylestown, PA, Roger Winter of New Providence, NJ, David Winter of Monroe Twp., NJ, and many good friends. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday September 3, 2011, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield (www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences), where relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation from 6 to 9 PM Friday, and from 12:30PM until service time on Saturday. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park, Linden, NJ.
