Wayne Winters, 65, of Union, succumbed to cancer following a stroke on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Peggy Coloney House, a facility of the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.
Wayne was born on December 23, 1942 in Elizabethton, TN where he lived until he joined the Air Force from 1960 until 1964.
He attended the Ringling School of Art in FL from 1966-1968 and then moved to NJ where he married and lived until his death.
He worked as a signwriter for United Advertising, Newark; the City of Jersey City; Chas. E Maier Signs, Newark; and the County of Essex.
He was a licensed private, commercial and instrument rated pilot.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Irene; his son, Wesley; his daughter, Valerie Huggard; his sister, Brenda Sneyd; and his mother, Donnis Hicks.
Visiting will be held on Monday August 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford NJ
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 5 at 11 am at the funeral home.
