William G. Jacobs from 205 Pawnee Rd., Cranford passed away on Dec. 6th, 2017 at the age of 89. He was born to William and Ethel Jacobs on May 8th, 1928, and was raised in Hillside, N.J. As a late teen, he was spotted by a travelling football coach for the University of Miami and was recruited for the team. He went on full scholarship to the University and was a starring tackle from 1948 to 1952. Shortly thereafter he met his beloved Eugenia, his wife of 59 years, and bore two sons, Jeff (Jocco), and Peter (Jake). He worked at Waterproofing Products, Inc. in Clark, N.J., and went on to become owner/proprietor in the 80s where he worked until retirement in 2003. He was an active and much loved figure at The Riverside Inn, Cranford, for the past 22 years where he assisted with making the chicken salad, deviled eggs, and daily money handling.
Visitation and life celebration will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home in Cranford. Funeral services are 11am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. You may go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences.
He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey and wife, Eugenia, and is survived by his son Peter, and daughter-in-law, Nina-Claire.
