William Layton Smith

William Layton Smith, 86, of Westfield, died Sunday August 8, 2010, at his residence. Visitation and services are pending, with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Crandall Smith, three children: William Layton Smith Jr. and wife Deborah of Cincinnati, OH, Susan Smith Rooney of Fort Myers, FL, Nancy Crandall Smith of Westfield, five grandchildren: William Layton Smith III, David Markey Smith, Stephen K. Smith, William Harold Rooney Jr., Kathryn Crandall Gollier and husband Joshua, and sister: Eleanor Smith Eshleman of Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Plainfield, he resided in Westfield for the past 50 years. He served in the US Navy Seabees during WW II, and graduated from Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ in 1943, and Lehigh University in 1949, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.. He was a sales representative for Hudson Hosiery Co. of Charlotte, NC, retiring in 1980. He was a 50 year member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Memorial contributions to:
